Behind the Scenes: Preparing for the 2026 Edition While the ice may be quiet for now, a lot is happening behind the scenes. Our team is already hard at work preparing the 2026 edition of the NEPIHL tournament. The location will remain a surprise for a little while longer, but we can promise that it will be worth the wait. Organising a tournament of this size takes planning, dedication, and collaboration, and we are committed to creating another unforgettable event where players, coaches, and fans can come together to celebrate the spirit of hockey. We hope to welcome all teams back to the competition in 2026, and we look forward to building on the energy, sportsmanship, and friendships that make NEPIHL so special. Para ice hockey (formerly sledge hockey) was added to the Paralympic Winter Games in 1994. It is a fast-paced, highly physical and played by male and female athletes with a physical impairment in the lower part of the body. Instead of skates, players use double-blade sledges that allow the puck to pass beneath.
NEPIHL stands for Northwest European Para Ice Hockey League. An international league founded by Amsterdam Tigers Para Ice Hockey, Genco Polar Bears Dordrecht, Antwerp Phantoms from Belgium, Dragons Sledges de Rouen from France and Sheffield Steelkings from England. Our goal for the Northwest Europe Para Ice Hockey League is to grow the game we all love. We want to see more teams and more players. With that in mind we need more matches so the competition will be better and there will be more fun on and off the ice. You will meet new people with the same interests during a tournament like the NEPIHL. Get on the ice give it your best shot and have fun playing icehockey. How good is the sound of that.
